The Unbilicutter is a unique device used in obstetrics during the delivery of a baby. the easy-to-use device not only clamps and cuts the umbilical cord, it also contains the splash of fluids when the cord is severed.

Cuts
A cutting blade is positioned between two cord clamps and severs the umbilical cord when pushed forward. It is contained in its own "sharps" housing after the cut is made.

Clamps
Dual cord clamps secure umbilical cord in two areas.

Contains
The outermost housing contains the splash from fluids in the umbilical cord when the cut is made, offering protecting for health care workers.

The Umbilicutter's one hand operation permits the physician's other hand to hold the newborn during cord clamping.

The Unbilicutter allows the baby's father to cut the cord if he so desires.

The physician can position the device, engage the clamps, the allow the father to push the blade forward, in a safe, controlled motion.

	1. Teal colored thumb piece controls the knife blade. the umbilical cord is severed when the thumb piece is pushed forward. 2. "Sharps" housing covers the blade and protects health care workers after device is opened. 3. Pre-loaded cord clamps have interlocking ends to secure the clamp around the cord on both the mother and child. 4. Finger rest. 5. Special locking mechanism locks the Umbilicutter until the thumb piece is pushed to its furthest position: this disengages the device to facilitate removal of the closed clamps.

One hand operation allows physician to hold newborn in one hand and the Umbilicutter in the other. The Umbilicutter offers the advantages of a multipurpose device that cuts, clamps and contains splash. With its built-in "sharps" housing, the Umbilicutter protects the health care worker from the contaminated blade. The housing contains blood and fluid splash as required by OSHA. The Umbilicutter also features a built-in release mechanism that opens the device when cutting and clamping is complete. The teal colored thumb piece is easy to locate and use. The Umbilicutter is a sterile, single-use product. The Umbilicutter's two cord clamps form a tight seal on the umbilical cord, both on the mother side and the baby side. the umbilical cord remains clamped for cord blood sampling.
